Blood Pressure Awareness Day

We held our annual blood pressure awareness day last Saturday (April 1st) at the Augustinian Church and in association with Limerick North Munster Rotary Club. We had a very good response with about 200 people taking advantage of the offer of a free blood pressure check. We had 3 doctors in attendance Kevin Kelleher and Jim Molloy from Limerick Shannon RC and Tom McDonnell from Limerick North Munster RC.

Remembrance Tree 2022 Remembrance Tree 2022

Once again in association with the good offices of Dunnes Stores and manager John Kennedy we are delighted to run our Remembrance Tree project in the Jetland Shopping Centre for the period Monday 5th December to Sunday 11th December inclusive

This year the beneficiary is Simon Mid-West and we are raising funds towards the purchase of an electric vehicle for the delivery of meals. With the current cost of energy this will have a significant impact on day to day running costs for Simon.

Below are some photos of our members and Simon Mid-West members during in the past week.

Dragon Boat Racing

Dragon Boat

Rotarian Senator Maria Byrne cuts the ribbon to officially launch the Shannon Dragons new dragon boat at Castleconnell, Limerick on August 2th.

Dragonboating is an international venture proven to improve fitness and rehabilitation after breast cancer surgery. Evidence has shown that exercise after breast cancer is not only safe, but beneficial. The specific movement of paddling can play an important part in preventing and/or improving lymphoedema, a chronic swelling of tissues that can occur due to surgery. Apart from the obvious physical benefits, it is also hugely beneficial for mental health and well-being, plus boosting energy levels and promoting better sleep.
